I think we may have been to Lanzarote 16 times since we first came here in 1988 and I have to confess that I don't believe we have ever visited Teguise itself, let alone the old town.
Mike told us that, according to his researches, it was actually a quaint place with cobbled streets and so it turned out to be. It was indeed a charming small town. There was a beautiful town square and a lovely church which was open and, to me, the longer I lingered inside, the more beauty I could see in it.
It soon became cloudy as we set off and then it rained on us, not for long but it was quite intense while it lasted. On arrival in Teguise the rain had stopped but there was water running down the streets and a lot of plants must have been grateful for a drink!
From Teguise we moved on to Costa Teguise. They aren't that close together and the old capital of Lanzarote, Tahiche, lies between them, but there we are. The rain had definitely given up by then, but it remained cloudy and struck us as cool as soon as we stepped out of the car at Costa Teguise. Mike told us that his reading up of Costa Teguise suggested that it was the coolest place on the island and that too was clearly the case today.
Mike and Marion did want to see Costa Teguise. We've been there a few times before but the place has never appealed to us. It seems bitty with undeveloped plots here and there and no real heart to it.
By the end of our visit, Mike and Marion agreed that where we are is way nicer and that they weren't missing anything, but today proved to be more than worthwhile for us as we experienced Teguise.
